New Years

Waiting until New Years to start that resolution? Like most people, there is a lot going on during these last few weeks to get things ready for Christmas. Between shopping, decorating, cleaning things up so the in-laws don't see the "state of emergency" that the house is typically lived in can be quite draining on anyone. Take these last few weeks to get things right and leave them behind. A new year is coming up and you're going to be ready. Why not spend a few minutes now to make sure that you're in the best position to maintain a healthy change to your life? Tell yourself you're going to make it a point everyday to make healthier choices including what you eat and how you workout. It's important to get your mind wrapped around the concept that a change is going to come and you need to get all of your excuses out of the way. Don't have a Beachbody program like P90X or TurboJam to workout to? Order by December 21st to make sure it arrives before New Years. Tell yourself that you can do it because at this point, you're the only obstacle in the way of your success. Let me help you become the fittest you've ever been and stick to it.

Insanity Challenge- COMPLETE!

This challenge is done! I cannot believe the differences in my before and after pictures. Wait a minute...yes I can, those workouts were tough! I remember the first week I did this 2 months ago and thinking there is no way I'm going to last 8 more weeks. Something strange started to happen though, instead of dreading the beating I was getting ready to take I started to crave it. After a while, I couldn't stop thinking about them. Anticipating the next one.

I can't begin to find the words to thank my family for all of their support during this time. I know there were plenty of nights my wife would have loved to have done something else other than watching me sling sweat across the room. But thankfully, she was full of support and kept telling me what a great job I was doing and really made me stick with it. For that, I thank you Britt for everything. I love you.

I'm giving myself a week of rest before I start a hybrid program between P90X and Insanity. I'm going to continue my endurance training with Insanity but add in the strength training from P90X. Lost all that weight...now it's time to toss some iron around. Check me out in 90 days!

P90X

-Decide- December 18th. That's the day. -Commit- That's the day that I start another couple months of dedicating myself to a daily commitment to nutrition and exercise. 90 days. That's how long it will take to push my body and mind as far as possible and dig down deep to where I feel like I have no where else to go and give up...but I don't. -Succeed-

Take those 3 key words and remind yourself why you're doing this. You want to get healthier. You want to build muscle. You want to lose weight. You want to get better. Now what do you NEED to do to get what you want? Decide. Commit. Succeed.

I'm looking for people who want to get a jump start on their New Year's Resolution. I'm looking for people who want to be a part of something that will change their lives forever. I'm looking for people who will take a chance and bet on themselves.

90 days is how long it takes. Try it out and be surprised at what you CAN accomplish.

I'm here to help.

You're not alone in this either. I'm right there with you; watching what I eat and working out to the same workouts. I know how sore the body will get when it's pushed to the limits. I know how strange it is to go from eating junk food every day to making smarter choices. Abs are made in the kitchen and defined in your workouts. No matter how hard you workout, you'll only get so far if  you don't eat right.

December 18th, 2010. Who's coming with me?

Oprah and Gayle love it!

Some of you women out there may have heard of this young lady...Oprah Winfrey. Ring a bell? Well she likes to put out a list of her favorite things every year and would you care to guess which workout DVD Gayle (her best friend) mentions? It was TurboJam by Chalene Johnson. A Beachbody workout is on one of Oprah's favorite list. Imagine that. Here's a peek at what they were talking about:

TurboJam

Think that might not be enough for you? Take it up a notch with her follow-up program TurboFire

So there you go ladies. Take a look, get motivated, start your new year off right and join me on making this a great year!

P90X: One on One for a penny!?

Are you kidding me? A new workout from Tony Horton sent to your home every month for only a penny to start is an incredible deal. The first DVD is only a penny for the month of December. After that, the full amount of $20 will be charged a month to continue receiving these awesome workouts designed by Mr. Fitness himself.

Contact me if you're interested in getting started. Hurry, the deal ends soon!

Turkey Day

With this Thanksgiving week upon us I've found myself giving in to certain temptations more than I normally would have. I'm not looking at it as I'm cheating on my eating, but more or less conceding to the inevitable. I love to eat. Not only that, but when it's delicious wonderful foods such as macaroni and cheese, and biscuits, and ham, and turkey...well, sometimes ya just got to push yourself aside and enjoy it. I was worried about heading into this week because I thought that I might jump right back into my old bad eating habits. Well, I am happy to say that I cannot wait to get back on track with my now regularly scheduled meals with better choices for foods.

It's tough for a lot of people to commit to this sort of change. It was extremely difficult for me as well. Most who know me and know me well knew that I could put away an entire large pizza and a case of beer without hesitation or any negative, immediate effects after wards. Not good. Now I'm eating 5-6 small meals a day, ranging anywhere from 2500-3000 calories a day. That's a lot. My wife told me recently that in the process of me losing 30 pounds, our grocery bill has gone up. One thing to take from this is that our grocery bill might be going up, but our fast food bill has gone down to practically non-existent. I haven't eaten fast food in 2 months. Crazy, I know.

For those who are in the same boat I am, eat up. Enjoy your Thanksgiving feasts and help yourselves to seconds on deserts. What's the point of working so hard if you can't enjoy the rewards once and a while. Besides, it's not like I don't have a killer workout plan to follow.

Decide. Commit. Succeed.

Cheat meal gone wrong

Had my first full "cheat meal" since starting this attempt to get fit last night. Buffalo wings, bacon cheese burger, and fries. Needless to say my body went into full rejection mode and decided I needed a punishment. First punishment: the understanding that I was not going to get in a workout last night. Punishment # 2: the reason why I wouldn't be getting in a workout last night and keeping me awake all night. (I ordered those correctly-pretty upset I couldn't workout for certain fears of "WHEN GREASY FOODS ATTACK")

Now, 12 hours later, I'm feeling better and got in my workout that I missed last night. I feel a little better but I'm going to add in an additional workout later this evening to try and balance out my poor food selections last night. I'm in month 2 of this Insanity Challenge and this is when I need to dig deep and find out how much I can push myself. I also need to commit to a healthy eating plan more consistently and make sure I can fuel my body for these intense workouts. I've already reached my goal weight just within the first month so now it looks like I get to add more calories! Noice!

More people getting interested in P90X!

I'm getting more and more people interested in trying out a workout with me to see if it's something they can handle. This is great because this gives them the opportunity to see how great the products are at Beachbody without buying the program first. After they do a workout, we talk and see what their likes and dislikes are about the program. We can then determine which program is best for them and come up with a plan to keep track of their progress. It can't get any easier then that! Not to mention, Team Beachbody provides them a free membership to do most of the work for them to help hold themselves accountable and to stay on track. If you have any reservations about committing to a healthier lifestyle or feel intimidated about it, please contact me. It's easier and less painful then you might think. ;)

Sharing the excitement!

I'm very excited to announce that I have 2 friends coming over to try a workout with me and my wife Sunday night. It'll be split between 2 workouts: P90X for the guys and Turbo Jam for the girls. I love it that this couple is taking a chance on a workout that they've never tried before, but only know about it through myself and other friends. One of these 2, I've known for years now and is a skeptic at heart, so I will take great joy in showing this individual how wonderful these Beachbody programs are. Know anyone who might be like that? Are you such an individual that has to "see it to believe"? What about has to "FEEL"  it to believe it? If you are, get in contact with me. I'd be more than happy to invite you over for a workout or I can even bring it to you. That's one of the best parts about these programs. They travel well.

Recovery Week!

I've made it to my "recovery week". I'm torn between feelings of joy and feelings of being lazy. Even though the recovery week workout is plenty challenging in it's own right, I still feel like I'm not doing enough. Then again, I haven't experienced what month 2 of Insanity is going to bring me. I probably should just keep my mouth shut and appreciate this little "breather" of sorts and  gear up for next week.

Halfway through Insanity!

I'm at the halfway point and I have already reached my goal! I started out weighing around 215 with my goal weight at being 185 by the end of this program. As of this morning, I weigh 184lbs! Not only that, but I can now fit into a size 33 jeans. I was almost in size 38's when I started this. This next month of Insanity is supposed to get even harder so I can't wait to see what kind of results I'm going to have at the end of it all. Thanks to all who've shown support.

Craving the workouts!

I'm not sure what it is exactly with these workouts but I find myself day dreaming often about these workouts I do when I get home. I already know which workout I'm going to do and for the most part, I get nervous. That may sound weird but these DVDs really have a way of psyching you up. I'm nervous because I know what I did last time with the workout and I have a new goal to reach each and every time I put myself through another one. My days are planned around these workouts. I know that I'm going to be pushing play sometime between 4:30pm-5pm so I need to make sure I eat plenty of good quality carbs no later than 3pm. By committing to eating at 3pm means I have to have a game plan for the rest of the day of when my meal times are. The people in my office just laugh at me because I'm eating every few hours. I need fuel!

Bottom line: It's good to have a workout that keeps you pumped. You don't want to dread a workout because you know it's going to be hard, you want to get excited about a workout because you know what you're GOING to do. You KNOW you're going to dig deep. You KNOW you're going to give it your all. When you KNOW all of these things...well it just makes it that much easier to accomplish.
